With the George Digweed Sporting Agency comes a heritage and prestige that only a man with years of experience in the sport and business can supply. George has been game shooting and involved with the running of game shoots since 1980. He used to go with his grandfather, George Hickman, to their syndicate shoot at Rolvenden in Kent, and from an early age became interested in the countryside. After a period of organising shooting for a roving syndicate, and being heavily involved with some of the West Country Shoots, George took on the challenge of running his own shoot at Owley, Kent.
George has run the shoot since 1993, initially with headkeeper Donald Duffus, and since 2003 on a smaller scale with his wife Kate. The shoot organise shoot days which have been tremendously successful and have enabled George and Kate to branch out and incorporate two other shoots – Glassenbury and Bodiam. Glassenbury, after careful planning on positions of drives, blood stock and cover crops, has changed from being a ‘Kent Shoot’ to a ‘First Class Shoot’.
As with all of the days that George and Kate run, the emphasis is on the client having a good fun day out, but also being able to shoot challenging birds. All shoots are mixed, with ducks and pheasants, and Glassenbury releases partridges as well. The Season begins in early September with the ducks, and finishes at the end of January.
Due to George’s considerable involvement within shooting, he has the opportunity to arrange days on some of the most prestigious shoots around the country and abroad. This is done under the ‘umbrella’ of George Digweed Sporting Agency Limited, and the team are available to help and quote with any enquiries you may have.
The Agency runs on team work and George tends to be hands on with the birds, while Kate deals with hotels, visitors’ permits, licences and so on. If you would like to know more about the business or shoot on the Estates detailed above, please use the form below to get in contact.
